Truth in the Postmodern Age

Millard Erickson states, "...truth is not relative but absolute. Our knowledge of that truth, however, is frequently relative, being restricted by our own limitations." - Chp. 7 of Christian Theology.  This is an entirely unacceptable reality of our postmodern age.  While Erickson certainly didn't intend to propose that the truth is in the eye of the beholder which would make it relative what he does point out is that because of our own human limitations we cannot fully comprehend the ultimate essence of truth.  How could we when we evaluate our environment through grimy spectacles and mutilated consciences?
